Yankee Genealogical Society
Researching New England,
New York, Pennsylvania,
New Jersey & Delaware

Welcome to the Yankee Genealogical Society!

YGS is a team of beginning and experienced genealogists based in Minnesota and searching for our roots in the northeastern states. We are an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and a branch of the Minnesota Genealogical Society.
You’re invited to join us as we help each other find family origins, stories, history, and images in:
New England states:
  • Maine
  • New Hampshire
  • Vermont
  • Massachusetts
  • Connecticut
  • Rhode Island
Neighboring states:
  • Delaware
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Pennsylvania
Our members’ interests range from the recent past to the Mayflower and beyond. We seek pilgrims, patriots, loyalists, and military families throughout American history, and so much more. We offer:
  • Quarterly meetings at the Minnesota Genealogy Center near the MSP airport, featuring speakers and sharing. Meetings are free for members and visitors alike. For information on upcoming meetings, check out the events on the right sidebar of this page.
  • A quarterly newsletter with tips, sources, research updates, and announcements. To see a sample newsletter issue, click here.
  • Yankee states' resources and expertise, including books, maps, and subscription websites, housed in the William J. Hoffman Library and Research Center at the Minnesota Genealogy Center. See the Research Center page on this site for details about the library collection, and the Resource Links page for online resources.
  • A shared listing of surnames that our members are researching.
Take some time to explore our site and learn how the Yankee Genealogical Society can help your research!
